Art Barn is a community art-making space located in Tucker County, West Virginia. It was founded in 2021 by Charlie (Mary ) Waters, the local high school art teacher at the time.
During Covid, Charlie began offering art-making classes and studio time to artists, students, and neighbors in her open-air barn. The classes were popular and participation grew. In 2023, Art Barn moved out of the barn and into a garage at Trail Labs, a bike shop/community space, and in 2024 it became a program of Tucker County Connections, a local nonprofit. Art Barn is now located in a historic house on Buxton Street in the art-centric town of Thomas.
The program brings affordable art classes and studio space to a diverse group of resident artists and students of all ages. Art Barn offers instruction and space for a variety of art mediums including ceramics, screen & block printing, drawing, painting, fabric applique and bonsai.
